Hello, my name is Linda, and I would love to help you or your student increase knowledge and confidence in your AP Computer Science class! I taught AP Computer Science Principles for two years with most of my students getting 4 or 5 on the exam. Whether the teacher is using Python, JavaScript, Scratch, etc. I can help you! I am also knowledgeable about Java, the language taught in AP Computer Science A, and familiar with what will be covered on the exam.

I believe the best way to improve any skill (like computer science) is through PRACTICE! In my lessons, I will assess where you need the most support, and guide you through practice problems which develop that skill. I prefer not to lecture, except to provide missing background information, and instead act as a resource to help you solve problems on your own.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics & Astronomy, and a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication. I began tutoring Physics in college, where I was a Supplemental Instructor for introductory Physics classes, teaching 5-50 students at a time and helping with their homework. I taught science informally for six years in science museums, helping people of all ages understand complex subjects.

Once becoming a traditional classroom teacher, I taught middle school Physics and AP Computer Science Principles for three years, with my students achieving above-average standardized test scores. I was also a frequently-requested instructor at Mathnasium, where I tutored students on-on-one in all math levels, from Kindergarten through Precalculus.

My 15 year old son taking AP Comp Sci Principles describe Ms Linda as "amazing"! In one session she had him on the right track with his projects and he will be meeting with her to go over practice AP problems to solidify a 5 on the AP test!!! Highly recommend!
