About Savion

I am a recent UC Santa Cruz graduate with degrees in Mathematics and Psychology. Before arriving at UCSC, I went to Sacramento City College. I have tutored students for the last five years at various colleges and high schools. I really enjoy teaching and helping students who struggle to understand concepts, theory, and the importance of mathematics. Also, I always try to make topics in math relevant and accessible to each student by showing them real life applications and how they can use math to make better decisions and understand their world. I aspire to inspire a sense of pride in students' new found knowledge and the mindset that they can succeed. I am a recent UC Santa Cruz graduate with degrees in Mathematics and Psychology. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I passed Algebra 2 my junior year of high school. Then, I took college algebra my freshman year of college and passed with an A.

Algebra 2

I have tutored multiple students for Algebra 2 before. Learning Algebra 2 is an important time in a student's life because it is one of the last times one has a chance to solidify basic algebraic skills before applying them to a higher level of mathematical analysis. I passed Algebra 2 with an A in high school and have gone on to take linear Algebra and Modern Algebra (group and ring theory) in college.

Calculus

I took Calculus 1 in 2013 at Sacramento City College in which I held the highest grade in the class. I took Calculus 2, Multivariable Calculus, and Complex Analysis at UC Santa Cruz over the last two years.

Drums

I have played drums for over three years now. Over the past few years, I have written, played, and performed live for several local bands in Sacramento. Mostly, I play heavy rock/metal with a lot of double bass. However, my drum instructor was a blues musician and I have been exposed to writing and playing many different styles of music.

Grammar

I am a native English speaker and can confidently read and write at a college level. I have taken and passed two English writing courses in college and passed both receiving an A.

Guitar

I have played guitar for 7 years now. Also, I have taken guitar lessons for two years and three music composition classes. With what I have learned in formal lessons and endless hours of practice, I have written and performed music for several local bands around Sacramento.

Linear Algebra

I took Linear Algebra in Fall 2014 at University of California Santa Cruz. I passed the class with an A and got an A on the final. I also have tutored students in Linear before and went on to take Abstract Algebra which expanded on many topics in Linear.

Public Speaking

As a musician of many years, I have always loved performing and talking in front of a large crowd of people. Also, last semester I took a public speaking course at my college. In the course, we learned how to organize, research, and present a speech in the most efficient fashion while appearing comfortable and minimizing verbal fillers. I can help anyone with their public speaking by teaching them the techniques I learned in college and sharing the tips I have acquired during my extensive speaking and performing time.

Amazing precalculus tutor

He's the first tutor to question WHY my son answered some theoretical questions the way he did! Phenomenal subject knowledge! He also asked about class dynamics and really assisted in getting him on a better study goal path.
