My goal as a teacher is to get my students excited and engaged in whatever they choose to study! I am passionate about all of the subjects I teach: language, music, and art. Self-expression and creativity are at the core of these three subjects. I'm passionate about the practice of learning and I enjoy working with students who are building goals, struggling to study, or striving to create an art/music practice.

I am a TESOL certified English language teacher based in Los Angeles. I hold a TESOL certificate from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in music from Bard College. My teaching philosophy is rooted in my background as a musician. Music and language are both forms of self-expression, and they both bring people together. Have you ever heard the phrase “music is a universal language”? It turns out that there are many similarities between the ways that music and language are processed in the brain. For me, language and music inspire the same sense of wonder and creative joy!

My musical evolution has taken me from a strict classical background to jazz, pop, and rock bands to free improvisation and noise music. I've done a little of everything! I'm passionate about the practice of learning and I enjoy working with students who are building goals, struggling to study, or striving to create a music practice.

My art experience comes from over a decade of residencies, workshops, and a certificate from Otis College of Art and Design. I've studied and worked with every kind of paint and many other mediums as well (textiles, clay, wood, neon, and more). I'm passionate about the practice of learning and I enjoy working with students who are building goals, struggling to study, or striving to create an art practice.

Art Theory,

Art Theory

What is art, what makes it good, and why? There are no clear answers to these questions, and that is why the field of art theory is just that: a realm of theory. I teach art theory in a wholistic way. Are you an artist? We will talk about your practice, the contemporary art world, art history, color theory and more. Are you an art lover, wanting to know more? Together we will explore the burning questions on your mind with deep dives into history, techniques, and you may even end up making art yourself. I studied painting, design, composition, and art theory at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and I have maintained a regular art practice for the past 15 years. I am an abstract painter, a figurative painter, I make shaped canvases, and I work with many different kinds of paint as well as mixed media.

My musical evolution has taken me from a strict classical background to jazz, pop, and rock bands to free improvisation and noise music. I've done a little of everything! I hold a degree in music composition from Bard College, where I studied with microtonal composer Kyle Gann. I went on to study with postminimalist composer Bunita Marcus. In addition to classical composition and new music, I am a classically trained bass player, electric bass player, vocalist, and I write and perform experimental music that defies genre.

Georgia is a blessing!

I am 20 and new to music theory. Georgia has helped me understand musical concepts that were a struggle for me to grasp in the past. You can't go wrong with her as your instructor; whether or not it's art or music theory, Georgia will provide lessons that are suitable for you and your way of thinking.
