Hi! I'm Anna!

During the day I work as an architectural designer at an architecture firm.
I recently graduated from my Master's in Architecture in 2017. I also have Bachelor's of Art degrees in both Political Science and Asian Literature & Culture.
I grew up in a Japanese speaking household that emphasized the importance of Japanese education. That being said, I can speak, read, and write fluently. In 2003, I passed the JLPT N1 level (Business level Japanese). Fun fact: I played in the Intercollegiate level Division I Tennis Team as a student-athlete. I consider myself a jack-of-all-trades.

Being an architectural designer I am a problem solver. I will make sure to help you find a way to understand concepts & ideas in order to achieve your goals. I will go the extra mile to clarify or repeat as needed. I will adjust my teaching style and speed to each individual. I am open to students' or parents' suggestions and feedback for improvement on teaching styles as I would like to make the best learning experience for the student.

Elementary Math / Prealgebra / Algebra:
I would be a great math tutor as I have excelled math during my K-12 school years. I have been in the accelerated program all from elementary school through high school. My notable experience being a Kumon Tutor for Math, Reading, and Japanese at two Kumon Centers. I know the ins and outs of teaching kids so you should feel rest assured.

Japanese:
I am a Japanese-American so I am quite capable of explaining Japanese to a non-speaker. I grew up in a Japanese speaking household. I took the SAT II Subject test and scored a 800. As mentioned above, I passed the JLPT for N1 level back in 2003. I also have an undergraduate degree in Asian Literature & Culture with a focus in Japanese. With my qualifications, I am certain I can help you through the obstacles of learning how to speak, read, and write.

I know sometimes asking for help feels intimidating, but don't be! I am here to help! Feel free to reach out to me and I will be quick to respond.

Great First Meeting with Anna

Anna connected quite well with my son, Jack, on her first meet and greet with him. We simply discussed his needs in Japanese One and how Anna could help him. She was prepared to offer him help in a variety of ways that he responded to. Anna will also help coordinate with his Japanese teacher in High school as needed to make sure they are both working towards the same goal with Jack. He's looking forward to his first tutoring session on January 17.
