About Gloria

I am a recent Cum Laude graduate from Harvard University with a major in Chemistry. I first started teaching students as an after-school tutor at my high school and fell in love with teaching. In college, I worked as a part-time private tutor in various AP subjects, SAT, and ACT. I also volunteered as a mentor at Harvard, helping disadvantaged students with the college application process.

I hold a straight-A record from both middle school and high school. Although I am flexible with teaching various subjects, my favorite are in the Math and Science, as I've scored all 5's on AP Calculus AB and BC, 800 on Math 2C SAT II, and received the Rensselaer Medal for Math & Science.

During college, I was heavily involved in an organic chemistry lab and was selected by the American Chemical Society to present my project in an international conference in Germany. I was also published in the Harvard Gazette for a film festival award.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I took AP Calculus AB and BC in high school (got all A's and 5's on the exams) and majored in Chemistry at Harvard.

I took AP Calculus AB and BC in high school, got all A's and scored all 5's.

Chemistry

AP Chemistry was one of my favorite subjects in high school. At Harvard, I majored in Chemistry and did research in an organic chemistry lab for two years (Balskus Lab, Harvard University). I was invited by the American Chemical Society to present my research in Germany at a conference called, Fruhjahrssymposium, one of Europe’s largest science symposiums.

College Counseling

I have assisted several high school students with the college application process, which can certainly seem intimidating or perplexing at times. As someone who has applied to UC, private, and several Ivy League schools only five years ago, I have a very good understanding of how students can prepare for their desired schools. My college counseling services include giving advice in high school course selection, college entrance exams, UC or Common Apps, essays, and interviews.
