About Justin

I love to help fellow students in learning any math related subject (math, economics, statistics, etc.). I graduated University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Statistics.

I currently attend University of Southern California for my M.A. in Economics. I love to improve students' understanding of these topics. My goal is not only just to get a student an A grade but also to comprehend the material and appreciate the topic for what it is used for. No matter what the situation is at hand, I will do my best in order to have all my students excel in any subject they are having difficulty with.

Outside of my education, I am a big music fan. I love the piano and have been playing this instrument for more than ten years. Recently, I have been composing my own music just as a little hobby of mine. I love and admire people who are also passionate about the arts. So, here's a little information about me. Hopefully, I get to know my students not just as a student but more on a personal level.

I have had tutoring experience with Algebra 2, geometry, calculus and economics. My specific field of economics I want to study is econometrics (which is math, statistics, and economic theory combined into one subject). I wish to pursue my PhD in this field and one day become a professor in which I can teach and do research in econometrics. I have studied R/R Studio, and am currently learning other statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, etc.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Econometrics

I graduated UC Irvine with a Bachelor's in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Statistics. With my mathematical, statistical and economic theory, which are all essential in econometrics, I believe I am equipped to help students learn the difficult subject. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Economics and hopefully in the near future, I wish to obtain a PhD in Economics where my specific field of study would be health econometrics, which I would apply statistical and mathematical methods to health economics. I am very passionate about this topic and have done two research projects of my own, using econometric concepts, theories, and equations.

Linear Algebra

As economists, with a degree in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Statistics from UC Irvine, we deal with various variables that can get very tricky and messy. Therefore, with the help of linear algebra, we can simply countless variables into a simple matrix. From there we can compute various computations through matrix algebra. I have taken various courses on linear algebra and can assist students in multiplying matrices, finding inverses, eigenvalues, etc.

R

I learned R/R Studio in all of my statistics classes for my statistics minor. I am very knowledgeable about calculating various hypothesis tests, confidence intervals, plots, and models. I have done two research projects where I used R/R Studio to help me with my econometric and statistical analysis in order to help me build the most ideal model. Data analysis is one of my greatest passions of mine and R/R Studio has helped me transform and organize data to tell statisticians and the rest of the world what the data represents.
