I truly believe that education is key to success, and therefore I love to tutor! My upbeat and patient personality, diverse background of knowledge, and creative approach to studying will enhance your experience during our tutor sessions. I love to bring in outside knowledge, tie different concepts together, and help encourage my students that some extra practice can go a long way. I will tailor each session to your personality and work hard to find what study type is right for you. We each have different personalities and therefore we cannot use a universal tutoring method for all students. I will prioritize working on your weaknesses but also plan on challenging your skills overall.

I received my Bachelors degree in general biology from Loyola Marymount University in 2014, and continued on to pursue a graduate degree immediately after. My passion for healthcare, community service, and medicine led me to the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health. From Pitt, I received my Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree in December of 2015. I majored in Infectious Diseases & Microbiology, with a concentration in Pathogenesis, Eradication, and Laboratory Practice. Alongside my MPH degree, I completed my Teaching Certificate at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education. My longterm goal is to become a physician and to use my education towards practicing medicine and conducting clinical research.

My passion for tutoring began when I was just a high school student many years ago. I attended a K-12 private school and decided it was time for high school students to offer their skills to our youth. I started a student club that specifically focused on reading and spelling in two languages. Throughout college, I tutored many underprivileged high school students as part of my service requirement. I also tutored a transitional kindergarten science class for a local elementary school, and worked in small groups to allow the children to start first grade without any holdbacks the following year. I was a teaching assistant for an upper division biology course at LMU, Invertebrate Zoology Lab. In addition to administering the weekly sessions and practical exams, I held review sessions before all exams for my students. Students who attended these sessions scored considerably higher than students who did not attend. In addition to organized tutoring sessions, I have tutored friends and family members in science for many years!

If my qualifications meet your needs, please contact me for more information. I'd be happy to discuss things in further detail with you.

Exceptional Tutor

Anita has been working with me on Epidemiology since the beginning of the quarter at GWU. Since working with her I have gone from a C- to an A with her assistance. Anita is easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable. I encourage you to book with her, as long as it doesn't take away from her availability to tutor me! Zamir M. B.

Recognized my learning style and adjusted tutoring to suit my needs

I was very impressed with Anita's tutoring style. We were going over the calculation of person-time for my epidemiology class, and there was a lot of information in the questions. Without being prompted, Anita recognized my learning style and even color-coded some aspects of the questions to aid me effectively separate the facts needed to correctly answer the question. I would highly recommend Anita and look forward to future lessons with her.

Knowledgable and professional

I really enjoyed the time I had with Anita. She very knowledgable and engaging. We had very insightful discussions about the project and through that learned a lot. She cared about me understanding the project and looking at it from different perspectives. I really appreciate her help. I love the Wyzant format and how the process works.

Wonderfully encouraging tutor!

Anita has been so kind and patient while I have been learning new material. She offers an endless supply of examples, and moves at a moderate pace through material slowing down as needed. She is very intuitive and adapts to your learning style. Excellent availability, quick response, and highly efficient!

Great!

Anita was awesome, and it was only our first session. She patiently went through problems with me that helped solidify concepts that I had learned in class. I learned a lot and am looking forward to our future sessions.
