My upbeat and patient personality, diverse background of knowledge, and creative approach to studying will enhance your experience during our tutor sessions. I love to bring in outside knowledge, tie different concepts together, and help encourage my students that some extra practice can go a long way. I will tailor each session to your personality and work hard to find what study type is right for you. We each have different personalities and therefore we cannot use a universal tutoring method for all students. I will prioritize working on your weaknesses but also plan on challenging your skills overall.

I received my Bachelors degree in general biology from Loyola Marymount University in 2014, and continued on to pursue a graduate degree immediately after. My passion for healthcare, community service, and medicine led me to the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health. From Pitt, I received my Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree in December of 2015. I majored in Infectious Diseases & Microbiology, with a concentration in Pathogenesis, Eradication, and Laboratory Practice. Alongside my MPH degree, I completed my Teaching Certificate at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education. My longterm goal is to become a physician and to use my education towards practicing medicine and conducting clinical research.

My passion for tutoring began when I was just a high school student many years ago. I attended a K-12 private school and decided it was time for high school students to offer their skills to our youth. I started a student club that specifically focused on reading and spelling in two languages. Throughout college, I tutored many underprivileged high school students as part of my service requirement. I also tutored a transitional kindergarten science class for a local elementary school, and worked in small groups to allow the children to start first grade without any holdbacks the following year. Biostatistics

Biostatistics

Biostatistics was built into a full year of my MPH program, as my concentration focused on the analysis of laboratory practices. I have numerous hours of biostatistics tutoring experience, and have had the pleasure of working with graduate students taking biostatistics at George Washington University, Drexel University, Simmons University, Arizona State University, and more. I am comfortable working with statistical analyses as simple as probability, to more complex analyses such as linear and logistic regressions.

I majored in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology (IDM) with an emphasis on Pathogenesis, Eradication, and Laboratory Practice. Epidemiology was the foundation of my major, IDM. Therefore I was required to take multiple epidemiology courses, like Introduction to Epidemiology and Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases throughout graduate school. I also took an Introduction to Epidemiology course as an undergraduate student at Loyola Marymount University prior to graduate school.

Brilliant and Friendly

Anita is not only knowledgeable, but she is also able to break-down epidemiologic concepts and calculations in ways that are easy to follow and grasp. And I didn't feel bad asking questions and/or for her to repeat a concept. Under her tutorship, I gained confidence in my understanding of epi!

Knowledgeable and wonderful tutor

Anita helped me through my epidemiology class in graduate school. Before seeing her, I was receiving 60% on quizzes. After meeting with her the first time I bumped by quiz grades to 80%. Toward the end of our 5 sessions, I got a 92% on my final and a 100% on my last quiz. She breaks down complex concepts into simple terms that are applicable to many situations. I passed my epi class with flying colors, and I believe a large part of the reason I did so well is because of Anita.

Kind and extremely knowledgeable

Anita worked with me on Epidemiology for the last several weeks of class. I felt like I was having trouble understanding the concepts in the class and wasn't always sure how to tackle questions. Anita was able to explain the topics thoroughly and from several different perspectives until it clicked for me. I feel confident walking into the final and honestly I couldn't recommend a better tutor. I do well with kindness and patience and she provided that in abundance. I am so grateful to have worked with her.

Anita is the best!

Anita is an incredible tutor. She meets students where they are and breaks the material down in a way that makes it easier to decipher. I call her the Biostats Whisperer! Super patient. Super kind. Book her today!

Lifesaver

GWU's Biostats class is without a doubt one of the most disorganized courses I have ever taken. The layout and teaching methods are subpar and much too confusing. Anita is patient and extremely knowledgable regarding all material, and I would recommend her to any and all fellow students!

Fabulous Biostatistics Tutor!

Anita was a fabulous tutor for Biostatistics! She really broke the material down to an understandable level and ensured I was follow along by asking interactive knowledge-check questions. She took the time to answer the questions that I had and made herself available after our sessions if I had any further questions.

Best tutor I have worked with

Anita was the best tutor for me because she explain very complicated BioStat terminologies in simple words easy to digest for non mathematical background students like me. I was a le to bump up my grades after practicing with her and pass my class. I’m going to continue with her for my upcoming classes and I’m glad I found her and worked with her. She is the best! Thanks Anita!

Knowledgeable, patient, overall excellent tutor!!

I cannot say enough about Anita. She makes overwhelming material feel completely manageable. She is completely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I could have never gotten through biostatistics without her!

Amazing instructor!

I previously left a review for Anita when she was assisting me with Biostatistics. At the end of one of our sessions I asked how comfortable she felt with some certain epidemiology concepts I was struggling with based off her background. Of course she could help with that too! So I was able to get help on both subjects I was struggling with this semester. Started off with a 69 average in BioStats and by the end heading into the final was averaging an 85. Cannot speak highly enough of Anita and her skill set and ability to make you think about a problem versus just giving you an answer. Will always recommend in the future to other students.
