About Daniel

Daniel M. is an award winning composer and pianist born in Bucharest, Romania in 1985.

Daniel has won prestigious national and international competitions, including the AMSA World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, OH (3rd Prize), the Rivere D'Oro Giovanni Talenti Competition in San Bartolomeo, Italy (1st prize), the Profil Special Award for his composition for piano and percussion, and a Society of Composers Miami chapter film scoring award. He has performed at world class music venues such as the Carnegie Recital Hall and the United Nations Auditorium in New York, The San Bartolomeo Cathedral in Italy, and the New World Center in Miami. He had his debut as a soloist with the Transylvania State Philharmonic in 2006, performing Bella Bartok's Rhapsody Op. 1 for piano and orchestra, and he performed his composition for piano and orchestra at the National University of Music in Bucharest in 2007 to much critical acclaim.

Daniel has earned a doctorate degree in music composition and technology from the University of Miami, and a master's in music composition from Florida International University. Among his many mentors, he has studied composition with Dr. Orlando Garcia, Dr. Dennis Kam, and Dr. Doina Rotaru, and piano performance with Kemal Gekic, Tian Ying, Veronica Gaspar, and Olga Szel. He also attented master classes with composers Valentin Petculescu, Ari Ben-Shabetai, and Bernard Rands.

His music was commissioned by renowned ensembles and performers, including the New World Symphony Orchestra and the Hispanic Lyric Theater. Daniel wrote the score for a Romanian-American film, which was featured in numerous international festivals across Europe and the United States.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I have a Doctorate degree in music composition from the University of Miami. I have been studying music since the age of 5 (over 26 years). I have tutored students of all ages for the past 10 years.

Music Production

I have been studying music since the age of 5 (over 26 years). I have more than 10 years Digital Audio Workstation experience, including Pro Tools, Logic and Cubase. I have tutored students of all ages for the past 10 years.

Music Theory

I have over 8 years' experience teaching music theory, composition, and piano to all levels. My approach is to make music learning fun, yet challenging and rewarding for my students.

Piano

I have a Doctorate degree in music composition from the University of Miami and a BM in Piano Performance, as well as composition. I have been studying piano since the age of 5 (over 26 years). Many awards and important recitals, including Carnegie Hall. I have tutored students of all ages for the past 10 years.
