About Benjamin

Hello! My name is Benjamin, and I’m currently attending University of California, San Diego. I have just finished my first year and will be going into my second year this September. My major is biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics. My strongest field lies in chemistry, or AP chemistry for high school student. Having received high marks in my college chemistry course, I am confident that I will be able to explain and teach fundamental chemistry concept through my own understanding. My Calculus background is also plausible. Since I received a score of 5, which is the highest grade, on both Calculus AB and BC exam, I have already completed my mathematics requirements with the university within my first year. With that being said, I fully understand all the fundamentals in Calculus AB and Calculus BC and understand the most challenging parts of the advance placement exam.

In the four years of high school, I have been volunteering as a tutor in my local library. I helped students from grade K-12 with any class materials that they did not understand. In addition, I also assist them through their homework assignments as well as test preparation. I volunteered for three hours every week and even more in some weeks where my school schedule doesn’t collide with my volunteering hours. Through this opportunity, I was able to tutor students with various backgrounds and age, so I know the best approach to assist them. In college, I was enrolled in tutoring workshops for all of my academic year. This allowed me to interact with professional tutors that work for the university. I was able to add more to what I knew about tutoring peers. When the next academic year start, I too will be one of the many tutor that will be working for the university.

If there are any questions regarding my experience or general questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

Algebra has always been my strongest foundation in any of the math course being that it allowed me to be successful in my calculus courses. I have been tutoring Math since my freshmen year of High School and now in college I am a tutor working directly with the university to provide aid to underclassmen.

Calculus

I have finished my calculus requirement with my university and have earned high marks on both AP Calculus AB and BC exams. During the past four years, I have been tutoring underclassman Calculus to get them prepared for the AP Calculus exam.

Chemistry

I am a Biochemistry major and I love what I am doing. During the school year, I spend up to ten hours as week in the chemistry help room tutoring fellow class men on the topics covered in class and review fro upcoming exams. I have received high marks on my past classes in chemistry and understands the fundamentals.

Precalculus

I have taken calculus over the years and something that I repeatedly see in these calculus classes are the fundamentals in precalculus. I understand why these fundamentals in precalculus are the way they are because in the later calculus classes, I studied how they came to be.
