About Erik

I am an Electrical Engineering graduate. I have had about 4+ years of experience tutoring on and off campus. In my experience I have worked with students ranging from high school to university-level students with mathematics and physics courses. My objective is to have the student actively learn how to approach the problem. I would like to guide them through the problems instead of telling them what to do.

In the past I have tutored mathematics ranging from algebra to differential equations. I have conducted math summer workshops in the past to prepare students for courses in the following semester. I have had several years as a facilitator at a community college teaching freshman and sophomore students physics and electrical circuit analysis. Coming from a very technical background, I would love nothing more than to exercise my knowledge for students who are in need.

Thank you reading and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebraic fundamentals are crucial, especially when evaluating complex problems. In my past experience, I taught students how to take advantage of algebraic principles to reduce any mistakes made in their problems.

Physics

For more than 4 years I have worked as a facilitator for some of the physics classes offered at a community college. My approach for solving physics problems involve the ISEE method: Identify, Set-up, Execute, Evaluate.

Precalculus

I have taught a precalculus workshop at Cal State LA in the course of several weeks. Much of the mathematical principles involved were crucial in my engineering education.

Trigonometry

I frequently used trigonometric principles in my electrical engineering education. I have taught the subject in summer workshops in the past.
