Rowan University (Biochemistry)
I have been studying organic chemistry for about 7 years. As an undergraduate student at Rowan University, I tutored organic chemistry and realized then how much I enjoyed teaching. I moved to Los Angeles to obtain a PhD in organic chemistry at UCLA with the intention of someday becoming a professor. I am currently a fourth year graduate student.
During graduate school I have had many opportunities to teach. I was a teaching assistant for two sophomore organic chemistry courses, an organic chemistry lab course, and an advanced organic synthesis course for graduate students.
What makes me a skilled organic chemistry teacher is that I approach problems students have from different angles. There are always multiple ways to explain a problem and often students need distinct approaches. Though a bit cliché, I also truly enjoy working with students and seeing that moment when they finally understand a difficult topic.
