I am a long-term substitute teacher at a charter high school and have tutored on and off over the last few years. I am a Senior Citizen. I am an African American. I was born and partially raised in the south during the era of segregation.
I have either lived in and/or traveled to all parts of the USA and many countries abroad. I am a U.S. Army veteran. I served in Vietnam during that war. I maintain a keen interest in international affairs and national politics and history. As an "outdoors" person, I enjoy hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains and anything related to the ocean. I am very concerned that we protect the environment and the wildlife that lives there. I feel strongly that we have to clean up the pollution to prevent nightmares such as lead poisoning. Our environmental cleanup should extend to removing land mines and assisting those still suffering overseas from the impact of Agent Orange and depleted uranium shells.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
