About Khalid

Over 10 years of teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate science and engineering classes, and tutoring SAT to junior and senior high school students. I hold two master's degrees (M.S. Electrical engineering and M.S. Biomedical Engineering) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I currently work as a post doctoral researcher at UCLA where I have published over a dozen high impact publications and patents.

During my electrical engineering graduate studies, I majored in machine learning and artificial intelligence. This led me to conduct research on educational psychology and to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering where I majored in neuroengineering, i.e. the biological and engineering aspects of the brain and nervous system. These unique expertise give me a deep understanding of the psychology and learning mechanisms of the human brain. This, in addition to my in depth understanding of the subjects I teach, allows me to present concepts from several angles that can be tailored to suit each individual's unique needs and capabilities.

I have always enjoyed math and excelled in it through school and college where it came intuitively to me. Part of my course work in electrical engineering included extremely complicated mathematical concepts, which I have later taught as a graduate student. I have also received a perfect score on my GRE math test.

I have 14+ years experience with MATLLAB. I learned and used it as an undergrad, I used it in my research and taught through grad school, and I still currently use it in my postdoctoral research. I have been conducting research over the past ten years on several engineering topics including biomedical engineering, signal & image processing, and machine learning using MATLAB as one of the main prototyping tools. I have published over a dozen research articles on the topics.

I have served as a teaching assistant for a UCLA undergraduate senior lab course on physical chemistry that involved teaching students advanced programming methods for computer interfacing, data visualization, and statistical analysis using MATLAB.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Outstanding Tutor! — Khalid helped me in a huge MatLab project that I had for one of my senior year classes in university and he explained the code in full and perfect detail and he was very very patient with me! He took his time running through the whole code and explaining it step by step with very accurate and perfect results! I would STRONGLY recommend him to any student out there dealing with a project involving ...
