About me: I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern New Hampshire University with my B.S. in Finance/Economics. In my career, I am currently a Financial Analyst for Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
Prior to that I was a general management consultant, specializing in quantitative analysis and financial metrics.

I am lucky to have been born with a gift for quantitative analysis, so naturally I gravitated towards the worlds of math and economics. I tutor throughout greater Los Angeles, where I have built a strong reputation for delivering only the highest quality educational services to all of my students, both in person and online. I am experienced in tutoring all fundamental areas of economics and finance, as well as several different math disciplines. (including college-level statistics)

I choose to tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping people realize their full potential. I strive to always operate with the highest levels of personal care and professional conduct in all of my tutoring sessions. My students may contact me at any time, for any reason, to receive the individual attention that they need as they work toward achieving their academic goals.

I look forward to working with you!

I hold a B.S. in Finance & Economics (magna cum laude), with a minor in accounting. The majority of my post-collegiate career has been spent as a financial analyst/corporate accountant within the entertainment industry (including "Big 6" film studio & major/mid-major record label experience). Most recently, I served as a financial analyst at Paramount Pictures, where a significant portion of my FA duties required ownership of various related accounting functions. (ST/LT receivables management, forex translation/local currency exposure, ROW deal allocation to title for participations, etc...).

I earned my BS in economics, magna cum laude (while double majoring in finance), and I currently work full-time for Paramount Pictures as a financial analyst. I tutor in my spare time because possessing a solid grasp of economics is required of anyone hoping to either promote to/beyond the corporate manager level or successfully run their own business, and we (the world economy), absolutely need all of you to do those things one day. I have witnessed first hand many times just how bad some of today's professors are at teaching many of the mathematical techniques in modern economics, not because they are bad at economics, but because they just don't know how to relate the material to today's students. This is where I have always excelled. I've just always been able to explain complex topics simply and efficiently, to anyone. Each semester, I tutor dozens of graduate/undergraduate students in all levels of economic coursework (Intro/101 & 102, intermediate micro/macro, econometrics, applied subjects, etc...) from every major college or university in Los Angeles. I assure you my five star rating is well-deserved.

Recommended tutor

The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because he seemed to struggle at times remembering some concepts so it took longer than expected, but after using the book, he did a great job explaining the materials.

Tutor responded:

Jose, You asked me to meet you with absolutely zero notice. During rush hour. In Los Angeles. I didn't read your book for 20 minutes, but for like 30 seconds. I worked an entire day as a financial anaylyst, then skipped dinner, drove 45 minutes straight to you, and had no time to review the concepts. I have my own notes and formula pages that I use for statistics because NOBODY has every single formula for every single technique memorized. You don't know that because you're an intro student who is struggling. If you had a problem with my service then you should have taken it up with me directly. And you should definitely not ask someone to meet you in less than an hour, across Los Angeles' rush hour, while also expecting them to be 100% prepared for absolutely anything you could be throwing at them. That is just not realistic. This is why good tutors quit the business. Best of luck with your education, academic and otherwise.

Very good

Take him don't loose him!!! Awesome tutor, really good and have a passion about math. A lot fun talking to him too

Thorough, knowledgable, conscientious,

Joshua's work was fantastic here. He worked with my HS senior daily for over a week and they nearly completed a HS Econ class in that time. My child enjoyed working with him, and he was great at teaching to her at her level. Joshua is great if your child needs to catch up! Thank you Joshua!
