In 2013, I began working for a private art school as an instructor. I am a traditional and digital artist, with three years teaching experience with students ranging from 5 years old, up to 70+. My teaching experience includes helping people who have never drawn at all to build fundamental skills in art, coaching students who already have skills to improve, and coaching in charcoal drawing, watercolor, pastels, and oils. I am skilled at duplicating the paintings of the Old Masters, working from still life to create original paintings, and in experimental abstract art.
I really love helping someone find their own artistic voice. Building skills in art is such a rewarding experience, and brings so much joy to the students I've worked with. With so many styles of artistic expression and individuality, it is important to me that students are drawing or painting what they love, without me dictating a subject matter or style. My versatility in painting from traditional to abstract enables me to connect with my students where they are comfortable.
I would love to speak with you individually, learn your artistic goals, and discuss how I may help you reach those goals. Please feel free to contact me and schedule a lesson today! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a professional artist since 1993, when I began an 18 year career as a computer games and digital artist. In this capacity, I created objects and avatars for many computer games, using traditional drawing methods. The images were scanned and manipulated in Photoshop and other digital programs.
In 2013, I began working for a private art school as an instructor. The process to be an instructor with this school includes ongoing, weekly, training in drawing and painting. I am able to draw objects and portraits from life, as well as duplicating photographs.
As a lifelong artist, I have developed significant painting skills. I am able to paint still life, landscapes, animals, portraits, duplicate the Old Masters, like Monet and Van Gogh, and work with experiment abstract techniques. I am versatile in mediums, working mostly with oils and pastels, but can also paint in watercolor. I have taught students the fundamentals of fine art, starting with basic drawing skills, through learning how to depict shading and tone in charcoal and oils, working in color oils, duplicating Old Masters, and creating their own works from photographs.
