I'm an experienced saxophonist and music tutor based in Los Angeles, California. I have a Master's in Music from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honors from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
I've performed across the globe as a touring member of a pop/rock group known for their saxophone-driven hit. I've also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan O'Brien, NBC's Today Show, Undateable Live, X-Factor Italia as well as Coachella, The Greek Theatre, Central Park Summerstage, The Filmore and many others.
I've held teaching positions at the prestigious St. Hilda's Anglican School for Girls, Penrhos College and Wesley College, all based in Perth, Western Australia. Since moving to Los Angeles, I've taught within the LAUSD school system as a band director and saxophone tutor with the USC Thornton Outreach Program.
I'm passionate about teaching students of all levels, from complete beginners with no musical background to aspiring college music majors. Very few materials are required to begin lessons, apart from a working saxophone and a regular supply of saxophone reeds. I can provide all the sheet music and recording materials needed, although students wishing to learn particular songs are encouraged to bring those in too! My specialty is in jazz instruction, so students wishing to learn how to improvise and perform within combo and big band settings are especially encouraged to apply.
College level and advanced students may also like to hear I'm a published academic author for my 2015 contribution to the peer-reviewed journal Jazz Perspectives, which investigates classical articulation study for jazz performers.
Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions you may have about saxophone or theory lessons. I look forward to hearing from you!
