Illinois State University (Music Education K-12)
Hello! My name is Chloe and I specialize in teaching music. I have been playing violin for 15 years, which is my main instrument. I grew up playing piano as well. When I went to college, I decided to major in Music Education and Music Business. I spent my college career going through a very intense teaching program that required me to know how to teach music to all ages. My teaching certification from Illinois allows me to teach K-12 music: general music, beginning-advanced band, orchestra and choir. Throughout my college career, I had to take over 100 clinical hours which put me in real classrooms teaching elementary, middle and high school. I also was part of our paid string teaching program where, starting as soon as freshman year, we were designing lesson plans, teaching private lessons, small groups lessons and elementary and middle school level orchestras in our local community. After college, I continued teaching private lessons to both kids and adults. I've had quite the experience in teaching and have loved every second of it! I love working with anyone who is interested in music. Music is a universal language, music teaches life skills in a fun way. Music is life changing for each person and, in the end, can change the world.
I have a professional educator's license from the state of Illinois for K-12 music (currently working on obtaining my California teaching license). This certification allows me to teach any music to all school grade levels, K-12. I also work with adults. I can teach beginning-8th grade flute. I can teach general music with my ukulele or recorder. I can teach violin from beginning-high school level. I can also teach other string instruments such as viola and cello. I can teach piano from beginning-8th grade level as well. These levels don't just apply to ages, they apply to the progression through learning an instrument. Even kids that are the same age can be at different levels, it all depends!
If you are interested in music lessons or have questions about music lessons regarding different instruments or anything at all, please feel free to reach out to me! I'm great with giving lessons that are informational lessons about music as well (general music) where you can learn the basics of music before really committing to an instrument. These are great lessons to get to know certain musical concepts that will help determine what instruments might be best for you! I'm always willing to help anyone interested in music. I also like to talk about music history and everything music! I have many resources! Do not hesitate to contact me even if you just have questions :) Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a professional teaching license for K-12 music. This states that I have the qualifications and experience to teach any instrument at any grade level.
