Hello! My name is Harold S. and I'm an American Sign Language (ASL) tutor. I was born Deaf and was exposed to ASL at a very young age. I attended a residential school for the Deaf in Pittsburgh, PA. During this time, I had full communication access with everyone around me. I grew passionate about ASL and into an understanding that not all Deaf people are able to have 100% communication as I did. I graduated from Rochester Institution of Technology with an Associate degree in Applied Computer Technology. I also graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor degree in Information Technology.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am Deaf and I have been using American Sign Language (ASL) all my life since I was a boy. I teach and tutor various students and I raised few students to become interpreters for the church services. I use the Signing Naturally materials, which are great for students to learn! I was working for the Deaf Adult Services in Buffalo, NY as a teacher for one session. It is my passion to teach people ASL and help them to learn the awareness of Deaf people.
