About Abdullah

I have always had a natural inclination for mathematics, and enjoyed the experience of helping others to understand the concepts involved. As a UCLA student studying electrical engineering, I tutored fellow students for free and for pocket cash sometimes. In high school, I used to be in charge of a classroom afterschool teaching algebra to younger high school students.

My preferred approach is to go over the topics, giving the student problems until they perfect a given problem style and feels that they get it completely. For me, one of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring is seeing the moment when things just click; when a student has that “aha” moment and you can see that lightbulb go off in their head. This is particularly rewarding when a student has been struggling and I have found a way to explain the targeted concept in a way they understand.

As for my qualifications, in highschool, I obtained 7/7 in the higher level of IB Mathematics. In addition, I obtained 780/800 in math in SAT reasoning test and 800/800 for math level 2 subject test. In highschool, I was very interested in math olympiads and solving mathematical puzzles. I was part of the Saudi olympiad team where we had to finish school early in the year and be trained extensively in topics including number theory, geometry, algebra and combinatorics. I obtained a silver medal in the Gulf Mathematics Olympiad (GMO) and was an Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO) qualifier. In college, I took lower division and upper division math classes including single variable and multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, complex analysis, probability and statistics and performed well in them.

So if you are looking for a tutor with mastery of the subject along with a friendly and engaging personality, contact me today!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
