Ohio University (Theater performance)
I am new to WyzAnt with over 10 years of experience working with children and young adults in theater, movement, and elementary studies. I have teaching artist experience with children ages 8-18 in a wide variety of settings. Select past employment includes Camp Ramah in the Poconos (theater coach, children's play director and head of theater) and Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse (theater coach, theater educator and assistant director for children's plays). I'm a working professional theater director with three years of directing plays in the New York City area.
As a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Human Behavior and Theater performance my skills are interdisciplinary while still very focused. Three years of my education and self created major were in an intensive BFA Acting Program, the final year spent adapting, creating and performing my thesis: a five person half hour performance of Julius Caesar which I produced, conceived, adapted and directed. Prior to my education at Ohio University I spent two years in an intensive high school acting program Cincinnati Actors Studio and Academy as well as two years of private acting coach tutoring. I have been on both sides of the table as an actor and director. This experience gives me great insight into the many ways people learn the art of theater. I live for the "aha" moments of discovery and understanding with my students and actors I work with. There is nothing more special than being a contributing factor to someones creative growth and confidence building.
I have a BSS in Human Behavior and Theater Performance and a CASA Certificate in Acting.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
