About Richi

Learning a new subject can be challenging. Let me help you or your child learn math quickly and enjoyably.

I am here to provide the best tutoring service or your money back. I know it's hard to find the right tutor which is why I always offer the first 30 minutes free. This gives you an opportunity to see my teaching style and decide if you want to continue. It also allows me to test you out as a student. I am looking for dedicated and hard working students that are willing to work hard to improve.

Mathematics and languages are my biggest strengths for teaching. In high school I got 5 in AP Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Spanish.

I studied Economics and French at UCLA. I'm trilingual, speaking Spanish fluently (my native tongue) and French.

I began tutoring in 2006 in college. I have great experience and success teaching students Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra II (Intermediate Algebra), Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

With regards to languages, I like to focus on building conversational confidence and proper accent development.

Contact me and we'll make your learning experience fun and worthwhile.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I tutor ACT math. My method involves taking practice ACT and going over best strategies for best guesses. I go over major foundations that are tested. I recommend a minimum of 1 month 6 hours a week for the syllabus.

Algebra 1

This has to be one of my favorite subjects because it's the foundation to advanced math subjects leading to Calculus. I learned Algebra from my big brother in elementary school and ever since I became in love with math. It's very common to review some concepts of Pre-Algebra as we move forward to strengthen foundations. I personalize lessons based on your needs that I assess in the first two meetings. I like to drill math concepts to have a solid memorization and mastery that will provide the confidence needed to succeed in this and future math courses.

Algebra 2

I have consistently improved my Algebra 2 students' grades by at least one letter grade by planning and executing a weekly schedule. My style of tutoring focuses on building confidence through practicing problems with increased difficulty and highlighting and becoming aware of repeated mistake areas. We track everything on a dedicated notebook.

Prealgebra

I have mastered mathematics past Calculus. Pre-algebra can be the most fun of subjects because it's all about mastering numbers. A huge advantage to my tutoring methodology is that we delve into each topic that you or your child has problems with and we drill the concepts through simple practice problems until they become second-nature.

Precalculus

Over half of my students are pre-calculus students. Many of my students increase one or two letter grades with my help and instruction.

We hired Richi to help our rising 7th grader with pre-algebra after trying a number of math tutors who - despite impressive credentials - either didn't explain the material clearly, or practically gave him the answer in an effort to "get it done." Richi does none of that. He's engaging, personable, and most importantly, actually teaches the material so my son can do it himself. He fills the hol
