About Alex

I am a third-year med student at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. I have rotated through obstetrics and gynecology, and I am currently working in a family medicine clinic in North Hollywood.

I am fresh off of my first and second year of medical school and I can teach biochemistry, biostatistics/epidemiology, physiology, and biology, gross anatomy.

Subjects that I can still teach but are less fresh because in first year of medical school they are not used as much: organic chemistry (previous tutor), general chemistry, math (algebra, statistics), english writing and composition.

I am also experienced in extensively proofreading and providing feedback for personal statements (especially for health professional schools, but also colleges essays, too).

I completed my first year of medical school in the top 25% of my class.

If you would also like advice on applying to medical school, I am happy to guide you in the process of taking prerequisites and applying. It can be a long and strenuous path, but it is extremely rewarding in the end.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

I have taken undergraduate lower division and upper division courses in biology, molecular cell biology, and human physiology - and received A's. I have completed coursework in my first and second years of medical school that were molecular cell biology, genetics, microbiology, physiology, histology, pathology, and human anatomy intensive. I am well versed in human biology and pathophysiology.

MCAT

I am familiar with review The Berkeley Review, The Princeton Review, and Examkrackers test materials. I am a 2nd year med student at USC. The MCAT is still relatively fresh, and I can share test taking strategies, as well as premedical advice, if needed, concerning applying to schools, interviewing, and how to be successful in the path to medical school.

I scored a 34:
Physical science 12
Biological science 12
Verbal 10

Coming from a humanities background, my biggest improvement was in biology, which improved 4 points during the course of my studying.
