About Robert

As a middle school and high school Latin teacher, my first love is teaching the ancient tongue. The Latin language is the basis for the most integral facets of the English language. I have a deep and complex understanding of the workings of the building blocks that compose the English language. I spent years of my life as a freelance writer and dramatist, and I have Latin to thank for the tools it gave me any time words were involved. If you seek to increase vocabulary retention, bolster your understanding of English grammar, and to compose sentences with more powerful word choice and sentence structure, please consider me as you browse the tutors on this website.

I have four years of experience as a public high school Latin instructor and a master's degree from a top twenty university. I taught a college course on myth and drama. I have proficiency in Ancient Greek.

I also specialize in spoken Latin and Latin composition.

Contact me at your convenience to schedule an initial appointment. We can address any particular troubles the student is having and find a text to work on, so as to pinpoint the student's proficiency level and goals for future tutoring sessions.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Classics

I have three years experience as a public high school Latin teacher and an advanced degree in Classics from The Johns Hopkins University. As a classicist and educator, I use derivatives and cognates to increase vocabulary skill in the English language; I incorporate history and other disciplines as well. My goal is to offer students learning tools so that they will become globally competitive learners who make connections across subject areas in life outside the classroom.
