About John

I graduated from an Ivy League school with a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies and Literature before earning my Master's degree in Writing.

I have worked as a tutor and private instructor since 2004, primarily focusing on English and Mathematics. I have worked with every level of student ranging from young children to international businessmen, all with great success.

As a professional writer whose award-winning work has been sold and published in journals, I have a great deal of experience in editing, writing, and reading comprehension. I have worked with many local students on their essays, and I specialize in helping achieve excellence in creative assignments, college applications, and writing samples.

I cater my teaching style to the students' needs, and I truly enjoy working hard and seeing my students improve dramatically from lesson to lesson. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I was a two-year varsity basketball player in high school. We were the two-team city champions. I was honored by being awarded to the all-city team. I have coached youth basketball and worked as a referee. I am a master at teaching fundamental skills and practice habits.
