California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA (English Lit and Lang)
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit my profile!
I am a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a passion for literature, language, and writing. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Language that makes me uniquely qualified to teach and help others grow in the subject. I am also happy to say that I have earned my CBEST qualification. Since graduating, I have been professionally proofreading and editing for an accounting firm in the city of Los Angeles as well as for a translation services company based out of Santa Monica. I am particularly well suited to educate in the areas of English literature, writing, and grammar.
It is my belief that being an effective teacher requires more than knowledge and a degree. That is why I place emphasis on my passion for the subject. My love for literature and writing has been shaped by those teachers in my life who demonstrated an excitement and enthusiasm for the impact literature, both classic and modern, fiction and non-fiction, can have on the lives of those who take the time to appreciate what it has to offer. Their dedication had a profound impact on my life, and though I am a writer, I can't express in words how thoroughly excited I am to have the same opportunity to share that with you!
A testament to my ability to not only do a job, but do a job well and with enthusiasm is my background in extracurricular activities throughout high-school and college as well as my current hobbies. I have grown up participating in a number of baton, dance, and performance programs that included being a member of a championship winning colorguard and dance team in high school and a dance show performer in college. My current hobby and healthy habit is regularly running and participating in 5k, 10k, and half-marathon events. I have learned to be and continue to be a healthy, driven and successful individual who puts her whole heart into any activity she chooses to accomplish. You can rest assured that I apply the same attitude toward my teaching.
With all of that said, I will leave you with a final thought. The books we read, re-read, identify with, and cherish can define a lot about who we are, and that list of books is capable of changing and growing daily, just as we as people change and grow daily. In closing and in order to better acquaint you with me on a personal level, I'd like to share a few of my favorite novels with you, novels that continue to inspire me and have an impact on my life. I look forward to meeting you and inspiring you.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
