Arizona State University (Geography)
I am a new University graduate with both BS and AAS degrees from Arizona State University and MCC, respectively, and I have relocated to Los Angeles to be close to family. My education started as an AMI Montessori student and progressed to a Jesuit/Catholic Private School education up to my University studies in Geography (ASU) and in Audio Production Technology (MCC). I am also a trained musician, starting from the age of 5 years old, in the Suzuki Method.
I am available for rigorous but enjoyable tutoring in Geography, Science, Math or Music (Guitar or Recording) and I live in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, California.
I am dependable, fun but dedicated and focused, honest and trustworthy. I am available for the "right fit" tutoring assignments and I have my own transportation, IPhone, laptop, etc. I have tutored acquaintances on a 1:1 basis and my approach to tutoring is to work with students seeking tutoring by using their classroom curriculum or syllabus and following the curriculum or syllabus in systematically identifying and addressing challenges the student may be experiencing relative to the curriculum or syllabus for the subject being taught in their educational setting. This enables both of us to directly address challenges directly related to the material or subject the instructor is presenting and expecting the student to learn. If needed, I am able to deviate and expand on an issue, challenge or topic within the curriculum or syllabus in order to more thoroughly explore the issue, while still staying within the context of the general subject. My approach to individual tutoring is to complement the course curriculum or syllabus, not to to supplant it.
In the case of tutoring without the student being enrolled in a class, I work to build a cogent, clearly articulated and progressively sequenced educational plan that considers the subject, student's age and grade level and utilizes metrics that are reasonable and achievable for the student, so that the student may gain a broad and general knowledge of the subject as well as a sense of accomplishment.
I am eager to help and although I am presently considering applying to graduate or Medical School in the future, I am currently and indefinitely available for individual tutoring assignments. Thank you! I am a new University graduate with both BS and AAS degrees from Arizona State University and MCC, respectively, and I have relocated to Los Angeles to be close to family. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
