About Meg

I am a recent LA transplant that came west to earn my PhD in art history from UCLA. My BA is from Smith College in Art History and English Lit, and prior to coming to UCLA, I earned two master's degrees, one in art history at the University of Massachusetts, and the second in religion and visual art at the Yale Divinity School. My research focuses on medieval architecture, primarily in England and France from the high middle ages. My secondary area of study is nineteenth and twentieth century architecture in Europe and America. Thanks to an excellent undergraduate education and the coursework from two MA degrees, I have a deep and broad background in many areas of the history of art.

In addition to my studies, I have three years of college teaching experience, and have served as a section instructor of a general survey of western art, as well as courses including modern art, modern architecture, writing for art history, gothic art and architecture, etc. I am interested in tutoring students for the AP art history test, which is intended to simulate an introductory college class. I am an experienced teacher of undergraduates, and would like to turn my attention to your highly motivated, college-bound high school student, and help him/her achieve an excellent score on the exam to get a head start on college!

I am available to tutor within a radius of central LA.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Religion

In 2013 I earned an MA degree from the Yale Divinity School and Institute of Sacred Music in religion and visual arts. I order to earn this degree, I took courses on the bible, theology, and liturgy, as well as coursework that relates to my primary field of study, medieval art and architecture. My research focuses on the Catholic Church in the middle ages.
