University of Southern California (Theatre BA)
As a 2012 graduate of the University of Southern California's Thematic Option Honors Program and a Bachelor of Arts recipient in Theatre, my love of learning began when I could first hold a book. I was a very early reader and spoke earlier than most toddlers. An aptitude for writing followed suit. If something interested me, I would research it extensively in the library or my Encarta encyclopedia, familiarizing myself with every aspect of the culture, historical event, animal, or skill that fascinated me at the time.
Though I love learning, I was not without my own challenges. I often found myself disorganized and my time poorly managed, particularly in middle and high school. I maintained good grades, but struggling with ADD and dyscalculia (essentially, dyslexia of numbers) definitely presented its own kind of challenges and anxiety. I credit the efforts of tutors and particularly dedicated teachers with helping me adapt and succeed despite these difficulties.
My own personal academic obstacles have made me a more compassionate and versatile tutor. I have mentored at-risk students, many of whom also struggle with learning disabilities, in the development of their writing skills and cultivation a newfound appreciation for theatre and performance. By the end of my semester with them, the quality and clarity of my students' writing had improved drastically. Additionally, they began to exhibit an enthusiasm for the arts hitherto unknown to them.
My dedication, compassion, sense of humor, and skill as a writer are indispensable to both myself and those that I tutor. I'm also a graduate of the Second City Training Center in Hollywood, California. My experience in performance and theatre enhances my writing ability, as much of this field is writing based.
Writing, especially academic writing, can be difficult. Essays can be very discouraging, prompts unnecessarily wordy and confusing. That's where I come in- I will help you structure and guide your paper, in addition to giving you tips to improve the quality of your writing in general.
I have always excelled in English and the social sciences, and I love to help students transform their writing. I also offer tutoring in SAT and ACT (verbal sections).
Here are the additional subjects I specialize in:
-History (American, World, European)
-Standardized Testing (Verbal)
-Study and analysis of theatrical texts

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Every student I've ever had in this subject has improved their scores and generally understanding of the test structure. I also focus on time management and how to effectively read the passages and answer the questions in a shorter amount of time. I would love to help your son!
I participated in the spelling bee for four years straight in middle and high school, and have a lot of experience in proofreading, copywriting, editing, and composition. Spelling, and language acquisition in general, has always been a subject that has come naturally to me. I have a degree in theatre arts with honors from USC- which is a very writing intensive area of study. A good writer is always conscientious of proper spelling and grammar!
I have been studying theatre since I was in middle school, and got my bachelor's in Theatre Studies from the University of Southern California in 2012. I have worked on all aspects of theatre, from being on the stage itself to building set pieces to writing plays. As a graduate of the Second City Training Center's improvisation program, I have an even better grasp on the writing of scripts and plays, having produced, acted in, and written a show I am currently performing for the next two months. Theatre, as I see it, is a more active, dynamic form of an English or Literature class, involving an immersion in the text. I've spent much of my life in the theatre, acting, writing, etc, and have a wealth of knowledge to share on the subject- from its history to its modern implications.
I got a near perfect score on the verbal and writing portions of the SAT. I am a USC graduate with a bachelor's in Theatre Arts- I also participated in the Thematic Option Honors Program, which is very writing intensive. I have experience proofreading, copywriting, and editing both academic and commercial content.
