If your child (or children) needs some extra help in English, math, science, history etc., consider my private tutoring expertise. I have four years of full-time experience as a certified ESL instructor for elementary- and middle school-aged students, from phonics to middle school earth dynamics.
Student improvement is my goal. I believe any child can succeed in any subject; they just require support, regular practice, and a positive atmosphere. There is no greater confidence boost or promise of success than a child learning how to accomplish goals on his or her own.
Adults are also welcome - I have experience with older students in improving their speaking, reading and vocabulary.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked full-time for two years as an elementary K-8 instructor in ESL, as well as math, science, social studies and language arts. This was in Seoul, South Korea, at an institute called LangCon English. I am well versed in American curriculum, since this institute followed the same, and used the same books.
I taught for two years as an ESL instructor for a wide variety of ages and skill levels. Some kids were young but could speak near fluency, and older kids had trouble picking up some very basic language capabilities. My experience with English as a Second Language learners has tuned my ear and my mind to what helps children struggling with phonics, or even keeping up with the right order of progression for average students. Phonics for young kids should be fun, playful and fully interactive! They need to make the connections in their head for it to mean something to them and show them that they can interact with the world better for it.
Different aged children need to utilize different skills for getting ahead in school. I use my knowledge of their learning type and what they like to find a way to inspire them to get to work on their own. I've ascertained from previous students who might be easily distracted, lacking on confidence, or who have trouble concentrating that sometimes all they need is a set schedule, or a study partner (a sibling), or they need me to break down the topic into easier pieces. I excel at showing students how to break down questions, estimate question types on tests, and analyse the type of content in a text to better understand what they should know.
