Occidental College (Political Science)
My name is Maayan. I am a student at Occidental College, and I offer tutoring in all elementary subjects, as well as middle school and high school Math and English. I have been tutoring for several years, and although I am relatively new to WyzAnt, I have had multiple long-term clients.
The bulk of my work has been with Chai Lifeline, an international organization that pairs adults with chronically ill children and their siblings. That being said, I also have extensive experience as a paid private tutor.
I am very kind and patient, and many of my students have ADHD. I make it a priority to get to know each child I work with. This allows for a more special relationship between me and my students, which makes the work tolerable for them, if not enjoyable.
I also offer tutoring in Hebrew and test preparation. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. My name is Maayan. If you find someone with a better rate, they probably won't give you the special attention that I offer. I have authored my own Hebrew materials, and have spent years modifying them.
Maayan is a very pleasant and knowledgeable tutor who knows his stuff. I could not recommend him enough. He was flexible in regards to my schedule, prompt, and courteous.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring kids for the ACT for a multiple years. Some of those students were actually home-schooled. Students who work with me are taught how to take the English portion of the test in a quick but effective manner.
I teach Hebrew professionally at a Temple and a Day school. I also teach Hebrew to adults, in both a religious and non-religious contexts. I also conduct bar mitzvahs (for people without a synagogue) as both a service leader and cantor. I have been speaking Hebrew for all of my life. My father is a rabbi, and my name itself is Hebrew. I have taken over 10 years of Hebrew lessons, and have won awards for my Hebrew poetry. I graduated from Jewish high school with top marks in what was the school's most advanced Hebrew class. I have been teaching Hebrew to people of all ages and levels for over five years now.
I have been working with Macintosh computers for all of my life. I have helped small business owners organize and file their documents away to the cloud. I have also taught people whose second language is English how to use these computers.
My father is a Rabbi. I have taken several religious studies classes and passed with flying colors. I have been in Jewish schools until I was 18 year sold. I have years of experience tutoring children in Judaism, and I have also worked as a religious school teacher in the past.
