I am a recent graduate of University of California, Irvine, with a Masters in the Art of Teaching. I am a credentialed teacher for secondary schooling (middle to high school) in Language Arts/English. Since the start of college, I have tutored almost every year, ranging from tutoring elementary students with their homework to helping students specifically with their Language Arts course. I also have experience working with special needs students as part of my teaching credential program. As a former student not too long ago, I understand that not many students are particularly enthused with the idea of having to have a tutor. Therefore, I try to develop a rapport with them, and if it takes an end goal (like watching a movie with pizza) to get them to be motivated about trying their best with their academics, I'm all in. In addition, my previous experiences working with tutoring companies has taught me that it is very important to let the parents know of the progress his/her child is making. With that in mind, I always set aside the last five minutes to speak to the parents about what areas the student has improved, and how they may be of help in setting better academic habits. And of course, if you have any questions or concerns about anything, I hope you let me know and I will try my best to answer and/or accommodate them.
I would like to let you know that currently I am only taking students who do not need in-person tutoring. If you have any questions as to whether this is the right fit for you, please don't hesitate to shoot me a message! Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a previous tutor, I have helped a student in third grade with this homework. His parents were concerned that he did not have the motivational skills to apply himself to his homework and complete them with 100% effort. Therefore, my job was to help him do his homework, and to set up study skills with which he can do the work himself if it came down to it. I tutored him for one school year, and he vastly improved from September to June. The following year, the parents opted out of the tutoring because they wanted to see if he is able to do it on his own from now on.
