About Fawn

I have been coaching 20 years now. Piano, Voice & Songwriting, Speech, Performance, Lyric Writing, Music Therapy, Ear Training, Music Theory, Music History & general music education. I get fast, yet thorough results, this is what I am known for. I only address what is needed to improve. I have taught students as young as 3 years old & blind to 89 years old after a stroke. I do vocal therapy, special needs, etc. Most of my students get to concerto level on piano in 3 years time, on their own & able to sight read. I am a working singer/songwriter /recording artist. I've had a top 10 hit song & constantly have songs I've written, performed & recorded in film, TV & commercials. I've also won several music awards. I teach what is needed, & tailor the lesson to the personality & individual goals. All students are given a strong foundation to build on.
I'm outgoing, fun, strict & laid back. I work WITH my students & consider us a "team" to meet each person's specific goals. I teach to the PERSONALITY of the person, because each of us has different styles, different points of view, different things that block us, different things that inspire us. I teach the same, important fundamentals necessary for a strong foundation, but tailor make it to each individual. I teach all styles of music.I love working with individuals and groups who want to meet their musical dreams, achieve success in their entertainment careers and/or take their abilities and talents to a higher quality level. I have been known to take some of my students on red carpets with me as well as get them performing opportunities and put them in high level networking situations as well.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ear Training

I have been teaching ear training for 20 years.

I started site singing when I was 6 years old for the world renown Children's Chorale under the direction of Duain Wolfe. I was in this "audition only each year" choir for 4 years.

I took classical piano for 8 years, with Allen Hobbes, then continued with Jazz Piano at Berklee College Of Music where I earned my BM degree. At Berklee, we were required to take ear training classes each semester, in which I achieved an A each time

Because of my choir training ages 6-9, I was trained in solfege, sight reading and able to harmonize on cue as well as known my intervals. As a teenager, I had an a cappella group for 4 years and we won the ELOVOX Jazz Competition 4 years in a row. I studied more solfege at Juilliard.

I am also well read in piano, voice and songwriting.

English

I have never received anything lower than an A grade in all English classes. I am also a news writer and reporter for Diversity News Magazine, Splash LA and The Examiner, among other news writing outlets.

General Music

I have been teaching music for 20 years.

I started in music at the age of 6, singing in The Children's Chorale directed by Duain Wolfe. We covered solfege, sight reading, harmonies etc. I continued 8 years learning Classical Piano with Allen Hobbes, and Jazz Piano in college. I had Operatic Vocal Training with Juilliard's Sylvia Bowman and Robert Lansing. I continued my education and received a BM degree from Berklee College Of Music. I studied the History of Music, Ear Training, Music Theory, Songwriting, Voice, Piano and General Music. I kept an A average the entire 4 years.

In 2014 I was researched by Google and told that I am in the top 10% of music instructors in the United States. I currently teach all over the world through online lessons and in person.

Music History

I have a BM from Berklee College Of Music. I have been teaching privately for 20 years. I know all about music. I teach piano, voice, songwriting, jingle singing, ear training, history of music, performance, speech therapy, music therapy, lyric writing, news writing and reporting, as well as artist development.

Piano

I have been teaching beginning - advanced piano to ages 3-89 for the past 20 years.

I studied classical piano under Allen Hobbes in Denver, Colorado for 8 years, and Jazz piano at Berklee College Of Music where I earned my BM degree. I also trained at Juilliard and Boston Conservatory Of Music.

I've played piano for choirs and bands and believe that diversity of music is important. I cover Music Theory, Finger Exercises, Scales, Composer History, Note Spelling, Sight Reading, How To Accompany a Singer, Improv, Ear Training, Chords, Chord Charts, Classical, Jazz, Ragtime, Pop, Broadway, Opera, R&B, Film Scores, Composing, Songwriting, Write songs and Play Piano While Singing and I bring in pieces from other countries that would not be typically heard in the U.S.

I teach to the individual goals and needs. I am usually able to get a child student to a Concerto level of playing with in 3 years, an adult within 2. I'm very patient and great with kids of all ages.

Public Speaking

I have a BA in Mass Communications. I have been working with people in Public Speaking for 20 years.

I use special techniques tailor-made to each individual's needs, situations and personality. I will often incorporate vocal techniques I use in teaching voice lessons for strengthening, endurance and projection. I only cover what is needed, so students can have thorough and immediate results. Expect to improve quickly!

I have worked in front of a camera since I was 6 months old, as well as hosted many charity events, and performed onstage since I was 6 years old. I combine my degree knowledge with my life experience to help students achieve their goals.
