I am a dynamic, friendly and patient tutor with 10 years of tutoring experience, I'm an NYU graduate (I was a Gallatin Scholar and graduated Magna Cum Laude), and I'm available to support students in subjects ranging from English and Literature to History and ESL. I am also able to teach students how to craft a well-structured essay for a class or for college applications.
I have worked with students of all ages, from age 7 to adults. I have supported students in developing their reading skills (whether they're in elementary school or are teens or adults), and I have worked with high school students in developing strong time management and organizational skills.
The most rewarding experience for me as a tutor is seeing my students improve in a subject that they've found to be challenging or overwhelming. I'm there to support the student and tailor my work to help them best according to their individual needs and learning challenges.
I look forward to helping you or your student excel in any subject that has proved to be challenging or daunting - I've found that with the right amount of support, instruction and encouragement, every student can exceed his/her own personal expectations and achieve new levels of excellence in his/her studies. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor students with special needs because I have worked extensively with students with learning challenges, from auditory processing difficulties to dyslexia. I did this work primarily through the PACE program, which targets learning difficulties through innovative and dynamic activities and exercises. I also worked with students in PACE's accompanying Master the Code reading program, to continue honing in on reading difficulties after students had successfully completed the PACE program. I did this work through the Malibu Learning Center, and the LA Education Station.
