If you are looking for a teacher who is energetic and compassionate with excellent communication skills and in depth knowledge of art, then look no further. Teaching was my first job and after 8 years of experience I can say with certainty it is my calling.
I am drawn to teaching because I find it deeply rewarding to help students explore and develop their creative voice. During my childhood, my teachers brought positivity and strength into my world by encouraging my curiosities. Teaching connects me to these profound memories and provides a platform for me to have a similarly impactful influence on other children and young adults.
My light-hearted sense of humor puts my students at ease and helps them enjoy the process of learning and discovery. I have a natural ability to evoke a sense of excitement in a diverse range of personality types. When I am able to improve my student’s confidence and self-expression, I relish in their satisfaction. It is paramount that all of my students have fun, experiment and realize their potential.
I earned a B.F.A. degree in Illustration from California State University Long Beach. My accomplishments include the capacity to effectively translate fine art techniques in a wide array of visual mediums (such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and ceramics) to students of specials needs. Moreover, I have helped many students develop portfolios and place in national art contests. I am comfortable teaching a set curriculum as well as creating and implementing my own integrated curriculum.
Currently, I am also working on writing and illustrating an educational children’s book. I am committed to art and education because it connects me to my community and lifelong goals. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
