Los Angeles City College (Liberal Arts)
For five years I've been tutoring students in K-8 in Los Angeles. I've been drawn to working one-on-one with students in order to have a larger effect on their learning abilities. I have experienced children with dyslexia, asthma, tantrums, and ADD, and am able to adjust with them. I am able to help students in the lower grade levels such as Kindergarten through second grade with phonics, reading, writing, and math skills, as well as social skills. For the higher grade levels, I am patient and have the ability to help students using teaching techniques that work depending on the learning abilities of the individual. I'm more than happy to teach your child not only basic skills but also American Sign Language or Spanish if you're interested. My schedule is fixed, although we can discuss arrangements. I'm flexible! I love working with kids and have patience and creativity.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored children between K-8 grade. I've acquired reading strategies to help students improve their reading and comprehension skills and I'm able to target the specific needs of a student. I can adapt lessons according to how a student learns and modify work according to their needs and skills.
I qualify to tutor students in American Sign Language as I taught students between K-5 grades. I've learned and succeeded at differentiating which teaching methods suit best according to age. I'm also receiving my bachelor's in Deaf Education and Interpreting.
