Deborah is an excellent tutor! Her thorough knowledge of the subject matter conveys a since of confidence that is now shared by my daughter. Her methods include the patience and communications necessary for a clear understanding of Algebra 1. These methods have allowed my daughter to excel and be confident with any challenges of problem solving.

Thanks Ellis. I am glad that your daughter is doing better in her studies!

Deborah is a patient tutor that is able to explain problems in ways that's easy to understand. The concept of understanding the equation and how it originates rather than just memorization really works for my child.

Hi Helen! Thank you for your kind review. I'm glad that this method is working out for your child! I look forward to more lessons together.

I am so glad that Deborah is my tutor for music composition. I meet with her once a week, and every lesson I learn so much about how to compose music. She also teaches me how to put into practice everything I learn. She always comes prepared for the weekly lesson. I can tell that she puts a lot of thought beforehand into what she will teach me for each week's lesson. To say the least, I am very impressed! She is very patient, and very intelligent.

I never really had confidence in math. In the fifth grade my math teacher was horrible to me calling me stupid and such. This year was a turning point in math for me, metaphorically and literally. Metaphorically fifth grade gave me a large biased towards math. Literally, fifth grade is when things get complicated, you learn how to multiply fractions, divide them, you even begin to plug things in. I new these concepts later from other math classes, but never fully conceptualized them in the fifth grade, it was hard for me to get through my later years of math. Where other kids easily know an answer about a fraction it takes me a moment to think about it. As I went through sixth, seventh, and eighth grade, I stayed in pre-algebra, never advancing. Finally I decided it was time to enter Algebra 1 in the ninth grade. I got a C that year but had yet to grasp the concepts. This pattern continued into Geometry, although I did get a B in that class, eleventh grade year, I decided it was high time to finally understand. And that I do with Deborah to guide me through problems. Having a teacher call you dumb and a lost cause can be scarring indefinitely. Deborah has been quite the opposite of that teacher, she has been patient with me, even if it meant going back to things I should have learned in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. She has made me care more about math than I ever did before. Without her I would be falling behind, with no chance of catching up. If I don't get something she explains it. If I still don't get it she continues to explain it, or has me do drills. When she brought fractions to our tutoring sessions after she had seen that I have issues with them I was surprised, I felt as though she had gone out of her way to help me, and also because she was point blank in the fact that I didn't know how to do them and I needed to learn how. That's what I like about Deborah, often times you hear, "They go above and beyond trying to help." But it is truth in this scenario, Deborah does more than what her job encompasses. That shows me that she rather than saying like my fifth grade teacher, "You're dumb." She says, "Okay, you don't know it. How can you improve? How can we change that?" She devotes the time and the effort into changing it with me. I know without her I would be lost in my Algebra 2 class, but now, I actually raise my hand without fear of being wrong. The difference between the me in past math classes, and the me now, is that before I thought I was or knew I was wrong. Now? Now I know I'm right. So I raise my hand proudly.

Wow! Thanks! I'm very glad to know that you're more confident in Math now. Remember it's all just practice, practice, practice! The more time and effort you put into it, the better you will get at it and I will be there to see you at the finish line!

Deborah is the best! Her way of teaching is profound. She really wants the student to excel and "grasp" the concepts. We are so lucky to have found her.

Thanks Chris! I'm glad that your daughter is able to grasp the concepts and apply them to her studies.

She is very patient, on time and she explains everything so I understand the subject. I would recommend this teacher to anyone.

Thanks Jocelyn. I'm glad that you felt like you were getting a better grasp the subject of writing.

I wish you all the best. I am always here if you ever need more help with writing. Take care.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a certified SAT instructor, I recognize that students vary greatly in their knowledge and grasp of math. Hence, apart from familiarizing them with the various questions in the SAT math sections and training them with SAT math exercises, I also give them standardized SAT Math tests and grade their tests so as to diagnose specifically which are their weakest areas. I then give them individualized training and math drills in those problem areas.

I train my students to work efficiently with math problems so that they are able to complete the SAT math sections quickly and accurately.

In addition to this, I also provide my students with specific test-taking tools and strategies that they would need to excel in the SAT.
