About William

I am a full-time, professional GMAT tutor. Since GMAT Prep is the only subject I offer, and I have logged over 1,250 hours on the WyzAnt platform, I consider myself an expert in the subject. I can provide an entire course or act as a supplement to your current studies. Regardless of where you are in the process - whether you've already taken the exam and not yet reached your target score, taken a course but didn't learn as much as you thought you would, starting from square one or somewhere in between - I will position you to excel on test day.

Training includes: practice strategy and planning; diagnostics and weak area probing; problem solving, reading comp, critical reasoning, and sentence correction strategies; custom topic review and common tricky topics; custom study guide for home review based on the principles you are having trouble with.

Working with me, you will learn how to approach every question type on both the math and verbal sections. Recent educational research shows that answering questions, as opposed to listening to lectures, dramatically increases retention of new knowledge. I train students to quickly recognize question types and break questions down into manageable steps. These methods go far beyond typical strategies such as picking numbers and plugging in answer choices. With my training, my students know exactly what to do with every question that shows up on the exam.

My style is efficient, direct, and effective and I enjoy helping others achieve their objectives. I am friendly, but at the same time I take the training very seriously and I like to work with motivated people.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

GMAT

I am a full-time, professional GMAT tutor. I consider myself an expert in the subject. I can provide an entire course or act as a supplement to your current studies.
My experience in over 750 private GMAT sessions over more than 1,400 hours on the WyzAnt platform alone qualifies me as one of the top GMAT tutors available; I maintain a top student rating receive positive reviews like those that follow.

Research into teaching methods that result in the highest retention of new concepts for the longest period of time have shown that introducing new concepts when the student is in the process of attempting to answer a question based on that concept. Unlike lecture courses, I tutor based on that exact approach. The experience is continually immersive and, because I continually evaluate my student’s current levels of proficiency in each of the four GMAT question types, my students are guaranteed to work with only, and all, of the material they need. In the process of answering questions, I take my students though the explanations step by step to make understanding and learning is simple as possible.

More than just asking and answering questions, I make clear how a limited set of underlying principles and practices are the keys to the ability to answer the questions correctly. Each step of each explanation is tied to one or two underlying principles and/or processes that must be understood and mastered. Knowing the cues that should alert the student to which principle to apply at each step is fundamental to my tutoring strategy. I believe that content is the medium, and principles are the message. I monitor progress on each of the individual underlying principles and processes my student must master to his or her score objective. I also provide free access to the two official GMAT practice exams and review the incorrect answers with my students to explain how to correctly answer those questions.

Many students are finding that it is better to employ a more qualified, experienced GMAT tutor online than one who happens to be nearby. With screen sharing, the experience is just as though they are sitting next to their tutors, and once they have tried it, they rarely go back to in-person meetings.

Patient tutor with great impressive online question bank! — I had a month to get my GMAT quant score up. I was testing a 39-40 and in just a month working with William & going through practice questions in his online question bank, I was able to raise my score to a 47. For a liberal arts student who hasn't taken a math class in over 10 years, I'm more than happy with my results -- scoring a 720 cumulative should hopefully help me get into my top choice sc ...
