I have had a great experience learning with Sheryl. Sheryl has cultivated my knowledge in a many ways. Sheryl is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, which makes every session with her a great learning experience as well as fun and enjoyable. I really appreciate the way that Sheryl never just gives me an answer but rather guides me so that I am able to find the answer myself. She is also very knowledgeable in a variety of fields. I really admire her honesty and joy for learning, if she does not know an answer to my question we will look it up together, and learn together. This also shows me the best ways that I can go about looking up a question for myself in the future. Furthermore, Sheryl's teaching styles is an all encompassing one. This is shown by the fact that I began studying with her to study Hebrew for an entrance exam. However, we have not just studied Hebrew, she also has offered me test taking skills as well as tips for reducing anxiety. This is all in addition to studying Hebrew grammar, comprehension, and annunciation. I look forward to continuing to learn with Sheryl!
Sheryl is passionate and enthusiastic about teaching Hebrew. She has a very organized system of teaching that I appreciate (especially as a teacher myself).
Sheryl goes above and beyond to make sure that I understand exactly what we're doing, and I love how she uses visual techniques to make each lesson clear.
At first, I was a bit hesitant to do lessons over Skype, but what makes it so great is that Skype has been updated! I can not only screen shot images during our lessons that we do (like looking at a white board), but there is a new feature with Skype where I can also view her computer screen so we can be on the same page. This is really helpful for visiting websites, viewing translations and other useful material on the net together.
Sheryl is a great teacher, and I'm very grateful to WyzAnt to have found her!
Very good tutor I will recommend her to anyone. She reads her student very fast and come up with strategies to help her students tackle problems or challenging questions. She has greatly helped me. All I can say thanks.
As much as I wish I could have given Sheryl a better rating, in honesty I cannot do that. I base my decision on past connection with a WyzAnt tutor that was very knowledgeable and professional, resulting in a clearly resolved problem. I wanted to back out of my meeting with Sheryl after only 20-25 minutes when it was clear to me that she really didn't have a good handle on solving my problem. There was a lot of confusion on my part and also her lack of knowledge of the Word program. It was ultimately solved in towards the end of the session, but I would not use her services in the future and wouldn't recommend anyone I know to her services. I take pride in being a professional guy, and becoming a financial advisor with AMEX without a college degree! I had to know my business or wouldn't be able to make a living. Also, she should not compare being a tutor with going to a Geek technician to solve my problem.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's degree in Hebrew letters, a master's degree in Jewish education (to teach Bible and religious studies) and 25 years of experience teaching Bible in Jewish and Interfaith Settings. I am currently on staff in a Cristadelphian School as a teacher with topics including Hebrew and Bible.
The language of the Bible and the Land of Israel is rich and beautiful. As a student and teacher of Hebrew, it is my joy to open new doors to students, travelers, and sometimes seekers of ancient Biblical Wisdom in their learning. I've studied Hebrew for over 40 years (having started in my child-hood) and have a Master's Degree in Hebrew Letters as well as a specialized Master's Degree in Education and Rabbinic Ordination. Yes, I also have lots of experience tutoring Bar and Bat Mitzvah Students, and would be glad to guide your student as well!
As a Rabbi, ordained in 1993, I am a qualified tutor of Religion. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology, including studies in Social Psychology, Motivation, and Group Behaviour. I have a Master's Degree in Hebrew Letters as well as a Master's Degree in Religious Education. Engagement in Interfaith Work for the last 25 years has provided a broad base for tutoring in the subject of Religion. I currently teach students ranging from Jewish Children learning to read Hebrew to Anglican Bishops studying Old Testament.
