I write fiction, non-fiction, columns, magazine articles and have done investigative reporting. I am fluent in Spanish, having lived extensively in Latin America, and I have spoken Spanish exclusively to my daughter since she was a baby. I have also taught Spanish to adults and children of all ages.

Corporate Training

Grammar,

Grammar

Unlike most people, I love grammar. It makes sense to me and I love being able to explain it to others. As a writer, editor and a lawyer, I am well-versed in producing grammatically correct writing. I earn my living writing and editing and teaching others how to write well, in particular, using correctly-structured sentences and paragraphs. Grammar doesn't need to be boring; it can actually be fun, if taught in the right way.
Spanish

Spanish

I studied two years of Advanced Spanish at Cornell University and became fluent, when I lived, studied and worked in Colombia, South America. I have also lived in other countries in Latin America, including Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Bolivia. I have taught Spanish classes to adults and children of all ages: in large classes, small groups and individually. I am flexible in my teaching methods and can concentrate on learning to speak Spanish as well as focusing on grammar, vocabulary and culture, whatever is most useful.
