I consider myself a "student of life." I am excited about the possibilities of helping you teach yourself more about the subjects you are interested in. It is my belief that we all teach ourselves, and sometimes that process takes longer than we would like. As a teacher, I hope to present some ideas and concepts for you to consider, that might help enhance your comprehension. The most important thing is to be optimistic and patient. As Herman Hesse wrote in his book Siddhartha, "If you can learn patience, you can learn anything." I myself, am not particularly fast at learning some things, and I have a saying that I use to remind myself, "The more you do it, the better you get." So, with Patience, and Practice, you can master almost anything as long as you are willing to spend time to Work at it.
I have spent the past 17 years working in Film Special Effects, and Computer Video graphics, and now I am ready for a new adventure. Helping students to teach themselves seems like an important and interesting opportunity.
My college education is in Engineering and Computer Science, so I have a good knowledge of basic math and science. I also play piano and compose music. I have self-produced a number of audio music CD's of original music. Also, I love history. I have read almost 2000 books in my life and am familiar with most periods in history. I am especially interested in ancient Roman History, American History, Modern Art History, and the prehistory of early man.
In conclusion, if you need help with Basic Math, Algebra, History, or Music Theory, I would love an opportunity to help out. Together we can tackle the difficult issues, and before you know it, you will have mastered them.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you for your time and good luck with your learning adventure.
Bill Dear Student,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an engineering degree and am still good with Algebra. I also used algebra concepts in my computer programming, and Visual Effects work.
I am certain that I can explain the concepts so you have a better understanding and a better mastery of Algebra.
Algebra is a quantitative way of establishing relationships between different variables.
There are regular rules and procedures to simplify these relationships, so you can find the fundamental descriptive relationship.
This allows you to then find the optimum value for the variable you are concerned with.
With practice, the procedures, and processes become easier to use and to set up.
I love history and find American history especially interesting because it is so relevant to the life we live today.
If we look closely, we can see how past events have shaped the world we live in, and we can see how events today might shape the world of the future.
The fascinating thing about history is to imagine what it was really like to live in those times and how it felt to witness those great events.
I have read over 2000 books on a variety of subjects, but mostly history, philosophy, science, religion, and the arts. Reading the writings of noteworthy people is a way to improve our thinking and better ourselves. Reading an essay is like having lunch with a famous person from history and listening to them explain their opinions. What better way is there to improve our minds and our ability? How else could we share such distinguished company? As Dennis Wholey said, "We are the same person we were five years ago, except for the people we have met and the books we have read."
I have an engineering degree and am very good with Algebra and mathematics.
Pre-Algebra is setting up the concepts and relationships between variables to model real life situations.
Basic math concepts like order of precedence of operators and solving for a variable are explored.
At first it can seem difficult, but with practice it becomes easier to understand.
I worked for 25 years in video post production and VFX. I have my own youtube channel with over 160 entries. I am familiar with all phases of video production.
