I am a recent graduate of the School of Theatre at the University of Southern California. I have been tutoring math for three years, and I have worked with students in different grades and a variety of subjects ranging from basic arithmetic to pre-calculus to SAT Math.
I have always loved math, nerdy as that may be, and I was disappointed to find that it did not fit into my curriculum as a theatre major. I was very excited when I found the opportunity to begin tutoring math so that I could hopefully spread my love of the subject to other students. I believe that private tutoring is a great supplement to classroom education, especially for students who attend schools with larger classes where they don't receive the individual attention they may need. I tailor my lessons to fit the needs of every student because I believe that everyone can learn math as long as someone is there to teach it in a way that makes sense! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
