As an educator for the past 30 years, I have worked with students from preschool through high school as a classroom teacher, reading teacher, tutor, youth center counselor, and preschool director. I make strong and lasting connections with children through my warmth and belief in their uniqueness and unlimited potential. My work with individual students blends respect, humor, and patience. I am able to vary methods and approaches to facilitate the learning process.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught elementary school for many years. The major part of my teaching was in Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classes. I have worked with upper elementary grades as a tutor and for short-term classroom teaching assignments. My approach to working with children is to make a meaningful connection and attempt to understand each child's individual strengths and areas for development in order to facilitate growth in all areas for the child.
My Master's Degree in Education was acquired from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Many innovative teaching methodologies are presented to the students at the college. There is a focus in all coursework on child development and multiple intelligences. The goal is to reach every child and help him develop his unique potential. I share this goal.
I am a Title 1 program reading teacher in various school settings in the Los Angeles area. I assess strengths and areas to strengthen and develop interest and enthusiasm for reading as well as confidence.
