About Stefano

Reliable, responsible, and a good listener; this is how you will describe me after you've had a tutoring session with me. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Minor in Mathematics. I obtained As in all of my Calculus classes except for Calculus 4 and have competed at National Level. I have been a tutor for four different companies; including tutoring for the Mathematics Lab at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I've also served as a teacher, a personal trainer and a paraprofessional. Why do I keep tutoring? Because I enjoy allowing others reach their full potential!

If your son or daughter is not doing well in math is probably because he or she is having difficulty relating it to life. Not doing so will make math seem useless, boring and leave him or her unmotivated. My goal is to inspire him or her to an enthusiastic interest in math through applied math concepts.

My tutoring sessions include three stages: a short reviewing stage, a teaching and example stage, and a homework or classwork stage. Note that this is tentative schedule subject to change. We will have a structured plan through which we will develop specific and realistic goals and objectives. I will prepare a weekly assessment, a monthly report and a graphic chart through which you will be able to assess your son's or daughter's performance.

Thanks for considering me.

Aloha, Stefano B.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have a minor in Mathematics which means I have done all the math levels up to proof writing which goes beyond Calculus 4. I enjoy math and feel very comfortable teaching it. ACT Math is all about knowing when and where to apply your time. The best asset on this test is time management.

Algebra 1

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Minor in Mathematics. I obtained As in all of my Calculus classes except for Calculus 4 and have competed at National Level. I have been a tutor for four different companies; including tutoring for the Mathematics Lab at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I've also served as a teacher, a personal trainer and a paraprofessional.

Algebra 2

I took Algebra 2 during my high school summer classes as I wanted to get ahead of my class level. I passed it with an A and continued on to eventually obtain a Minor in Mathematics. A minor in math means that I have taken classes past Calculus 4.

ASVAB

I just finished helping a future Marine to pass his ASVAB test. The sections are quite simple - they're all about knowing when and where to apply your time. Time management is the biggest asset for the test.

Bible Studies

I am currently enrolled in the International College of Christian Ministry. I have tutored for 3 different companies and taught Sunday school for eight months. I have been reading, and studying the Bible for six years and I am consistently learning more from concordances, Biblical dictionaries, commentaries, lexicons, etc.

Geometry

Geometry is all about memorizing and understanding theorems. Geometry is the most basic level of mathematics proof writing. I have a Mathematics Minor which means I took five proof writing classes after finishing Calculus 4.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra can be challenging as it is the first algebra class you will ever take. Learning how to organize your thought patterns will help you succeed in this class. I have a minor in Mathematics, finishing classes beyond Calculus 4.

Precalculus

Precalculus can be difficult as it is the first Calculus class you will take. Like Algebra, precalculus is all about memorizing thought patterns. Applying this math concepts to real life will make this math class exiting. I have obtained a Minor in Mathematics meaning that I have done classes beyond calculus 4.

SAT Math

Like the ACT Math, the SAT Math section is all about time management. It includes Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and other number and operation section. Besides having a Minor in Mathematics, I finished Algebra and Geometry from the honors class in my high school.

Spanish

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Minor in Mathematics. I am originally from Peru, where I lived the first twelve years of my life. I am fluent in Spanish speaking, writing and reading. I have been a tutor for four different companies.
