Hello, my name is Tracey! I graduated summa cum laude (4.0 GPA) with a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I graduated magna cum laude (3.89 GPA) with a Bachelor's degree in English, minor in Writing; and, a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. I have over seven years of experience teaching and tutoring all aspects of English, including English Language Arts and ESL/ESOL. I have taught, (and tutored in), reading comprehension; academic essay writing, including college admission and scholarship essays; resume and cover letter writing; speaking and listening skills, including speech writing and delivery; and, test preparation including IELTS, WIDA, and other standardized assessments.
I love tutoring because of the freedom it affords me to be creative in the design and implementation of materials and activities to truly meet students where they're at and customize my teaching approach to individual learning styles. I like to make learning as fun and engaging as possible while explicitly teaching the material and allowing time for student practice and questions. I also love tutoring because I love meeting new people! I lived in Cambodia for two years and have travelled extensively to many different countries, including China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Tanzania, and Mexico, to name a few! I have worked with students of many different ages, (ranging from 5 years old to adult), from many different countries and backgrounds. Variety is the spice of life, and I enjoy working with people from around the world!
