Hi everyone, my name's Tyler. I am a backend web software engineer with 3+ years of working experience at tech companies in Silicon Valley and Southern California.

In college I worked in a research lab devoted to learning about how to get kids interested in science and specifically computer science. During my four years in school I was able to run many field trips and workshops for elementary, middle and high school kids as well as teachers, teaching them science, computer science and how to use web apps that we developed in our lab. Our teacher workshops were focused around giving teachers the tools and skills to be able to use the technology that we were building in our lab in order for us to run field trips with students and collect data about what was helping them learn and become more interested in learning science.

As a professional, I have worked as a software engineer for 3+ years. The primary focus of my professional career so far has been developing backend web applications. I worked for a Security Robotics startup located in Silicon Valley where I worked on a team building an application that security professionals used in order to interface with the robot. The application provided the user with video from the robot as well as the ability to see automated alerts that utilized machine learning. Users were also able to control the robot with the application by setting patrol schedules, pausing the robot and sending it to charge.

At my current job I work in Financial Technology. My company focuses on providing the up and coming the ability to easily save and invest there money. I work on the backend of an application that is operating at scale and serves millions of users. As a part of this company I am also working with a micro system architecture made up of many services all providing a specific function that makes up a larger backend system.

As an engineer I am most proud of my ability to break down complex ideas into simple ones. I believe that this is a valuable tool for tutoring and is one that
