I am currently a Computer Science and Engineering Student at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). I have become well versed in the core concepts of computer science focusing on C++ and Java programming. Throughout my computer science education I realized that a lot of the time, it is not the material that turns students off of a topic, it is the lack of attention given to individual students. Especially at large universities, there is no way for a professor to teach each student in a way that helps them, every student is different and responds differently to various types of instruction. I have been lucky in that I have had professors that made the subject matter interesting and they only served to further develop my passion for computer science and its education. I fell in love with tutoring through helping my piers who did not understand the material and needed a helping hand, even when that meant merely adding a semi-colon, or changing a for-loop. Being able to assist those around me and seeing that their understanding increased after I had helped them is the reason I began pursuing tutoring as a job.

One thing that has helped me understand computer science is using visuals. Normally this entails drawing out a problem in terms of what is happening in memory as you write a program. Being able to think through a program line-by-line is an important skill that I don't think many students have properly developed. Any time I assist a student, drawing out the problem and guiding other students through doing the same has made a large difference in their understanding. Also asking guiding questions as opposed to giving direct answers is far more helpful, especially when looking through a challenging program. Using these main strategies I have been able to help a lot of students develop a better understanding of various computer science topics.

I have a BS in Computer Science and Engineering and much of my programming experience has been in C++. I achieved an A average on all of my college-level programming coursework.
Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

I have maintained a 4.0 in all of my computer programming classes over the last four years and have tutored many of my piers when they are struggling with courses. Having learned multiple programming languages and getting into some of the more advanced topics in computer science has qualified me to tutor any students ranging from just starting to heading into upper division coursework.
Computer Science,

Computer Science

For 3 years I have studied computer courses starting in high school in AP computer science. I have achieved a 4.0 in all coursework relating to computer science and have helped many students in these courses through tutoring services at my school. These things should be sufficient to qualify me as a tutor of computer science for any student heading into upper division coursework. I am currently a Computer Science and Engineering Student at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
Java

Java

I have taken multiple courses in Java programming, and also in C++. These are both object-oriented oriented programming languages so the knowledge relates really well. I have always maintained a 4.0 grade point average in any computer science coursework and have also tutored many of my friends or piers as I moved up into the higher level courses. All these things considered I feel that I have a solid understanding of Java programming and am well suited for a position tutoring Java.

Amazing C++ Tutor

I had a C++ assignment that was a little complex for me. I sometimes lack confidence when trying to code, but Adrian was very nice and patient. He was able to explain complicated topics about my assignment to me in a way that helped me better understand it. Very good communication skills
