Bio

I liked all math subjects, algebra, calculus including differential, advanced analysis, etc. all my life starting from high school years. During university years and afterwards, I spent considerable time with numerical analysis and differential equations.

I liked all math subjects, algebra, calculus including differential, advanced analysis, etc. all my life starting from high school years. During university years and afterwards, I spent considerable time with numerical analysis and differential equations.

After obtaining my PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, I taught 10+ years at 3 universities in California , CSULB, Northrop and CSUN in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering areas. I had possibly well over 2500+ students in my several classes. These classes, in addition to engineering classes, included several math classes, like advanced analysis, numerical analysis, etc. I taught several courses many times. One can learn the subjects and understand the concepts only in this way; without this, it is just memorizing the equations. I supervised 14 MS theses (based on partial differential equations with numerical solutions) and got them completed in time.

Afterwards, when I was working in industry I did tutoring for about two years for high school students (algebra) and engineering students (strength of materials, advanced analyses, dynamics/statics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer). Later, I worked in 12+ companies and was involved with the most complicated engineering analyses applied in industry including probabilistic analyses. In several companies, I did statistical analysis for test data.

I like teaching younger people to help their development and achieve their objectives. My experience in teaching is that applying the formulas and working the numbers are not that difficult for most people, but the subjects are not easy to understand conceptually. I explain these concepts generally and give specific examples so that these concepts are understood.

There is one problem in education. Most math classes are being taught at schools as pure math classes with not much relevant references to real applications in the industry. So a graduating person (I was a supervisor to a large group of young engineers recently) does not know what he/she has studied for what. This is very important for technically oriented students.

Recently I was called for help (outside WyzAnt) for a K-11 student. She was assigned 6-7 problems, she could not do them and they went to a GMAT teacher. She could not do the problems which included the rate concepts. I did all the problems, explained to her and she got 100 from her test.

During the last 4 years I was responsible for the personal and technical (career) development of about 120 young engineers. I supported this group of engineers with daily inputs (technical and procedural) for 4 years. To each of them, I gave a yearly skill (career) development test (some of them several times, total possibly 200+ times, watching their progress). I reviewed well over 50 resumes and interviewed 12+ people for positions in the company. In the past I taught well over 50-100 classes at 3 universities in California. I have had learning development experience with possibly over 2500 students.

I spent 10+ years working with 3 Fluid Dynamics codes written in Fortran language, first about 14 pages, second about 45-50 pages, and the third about 25 pages. Subsequently I converted the second program to a 3-D code as part of a research project. Following these I used Fortran in about 5 other Boundary Layer Codes, around average 15 pages each. These all above were to perform non-linear iterative calculations. Also, in about 5-6 companies I used Fortran either to do some calculations or to process data (for instance, to change the format of an output or to provide an input in a certain format). Also, in a company I wrote a new input section (a subroutine) for a non-linear plastic stress analysis program which provided an organized and convenient input for the program. Also, I have written a Composite Stress Analysis program solving a 6x6 matrix (using a ready subroutine). Also I have written a linear shell stress analysis program.
