Hi my name is Joseline and I love working with children. I am trying to acquire a career as a teacher. I have volunteered with School on Wheels, which is where I tutored homeless children. I also volunteered with an after school program called Blast where I mentored a student. I have been employed with Long Beach Unified for the past four years. I was a College Aide at an Elementary school for 3 years. I student taught in 5th grade and in a Kindergarten class and now I am a substitute teacher for LBUSD. Volunteering and working in the Elementary field, has allowed me to learn different techniques to help children expand their education skills.
I received my Bachelors degree in Child Development from California State University, Long Beach. After I received my BA, I continued school at CSULB for one year to receive my credential in multiple subjects (K-8). I believe that every child is capable of succeeding; one just has to be patient and willing to put it in extra work. I am capable of providing patience and determination to assure that your child is receiving all the help possible to enhance their education. Hi my name is Joseline and I love working with children. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in this specific subject because I am currently employed by L.B.U.S.D. I work with second and third graders. I understand what is expected from each grade level. I have also volunteered with tutoring before in a program School on Wheels and BLAST. I have worked with children from the ages of 5-10. I understand where the children need to be in math, reading and writing depending on their grade level. I have access to materials at my job.
I know that I am capable of tutoring in this specific area because I work with children in an Elementary school. I have learned techniques to teach children their math facts and because of my job I have access to a lot of extra worksheets that will help me tutor as well. When I volunteered as a tutor I was always asked to focus on math. Math has always been one of my favorite subjects.
Spelling has always been really easy for me. At my current job, I help a lot of children edit their papers. I check for spelling all the time, even when they are just doing classwork. When it comes to projects I make sure I sit down with them and correct their paper so it can be displayed properly.
