Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I taught a class at Columbia University to master's level graduate students on dyslexia and literacy intervention.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a permanent teaching certificate: TSSLD - Teaching Students with Speech & Language Disabilities from New York to teach K-12th graders. I currently work for the LBUSD and have my California license to work as a speech language pathologist here.

Hard Of Hearing

I have a master's of science degree in speech pathology from Columbia University allowing me to be qualified to work with children with language disabilities, many of which have concurrent disabilities such as hearing loss. I also currently work with the hard of hearing in the schools that I work at in LBUSD.

Phonics

I have a master's of science degree in speech pathology from Columbia University and so I'm qualified to work with children with language disabilities. Phonics (the phonological system) is a part of language. I taught System 44, a Scholastic phonics/decoding curriculum, to middle school students.

Speech

I have a master's of science degree in speech pathology from Columbia University and so I'm qualified to work with children with speech disorders, including articulation, voice, and stuttering.
