I am a certified TEFL instructor by the Via Lingua School in Florence, Italy and seeking the opportunity to tutor and teach individuals of all ages I the areas of English Literature and ESL Language Studies. I take immeasurable pleasure in teaching and instruction, especially students from diverse cultures from around the world. Living in cities from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Florence Italy, cities rich in culture and diversity, I have learned to recognize and value the differences in teaching methods, development, and assessment of learning styles from around the world. To watch students grow in both skill and confidence, to see their excitement in comprehension of a new language, is rewarding in a way I never thought possible.
My Bachelor Degree from the University of Arizona, with a Major in English Literature and Composition from the University of Arizona means I am very familiar with an English based classroom environment. While receiving my Masters degree, I had the opportunity to work with both high school and college students’ after school, tutoring in both literature and composition, and conducting prep courses for ACT/SAT/GRE and language placement exams. I shadowed several courses in an elementary school, in which I later conducted learning, reading, and writing assessments. I then created and implemented a new curriculum based learning plan for the classroom. I truly enjoyed my interactions with the students, building a relationship with them was the highlight of my teaching experience within the program. Having the opportunity to watch them flourish and grow is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue a career in language instruction.
I returned from Europe from which I have just completed a seven-month teaching stint in Parma, Italy, (2 months in Florence as well) I have been very impressed with the academic system in Italy for ESL learners and I have watched in admiration as students flourish under the communicative style of learning; I have come to value its principles in planning, development, and implementation. Creativity and determination are two of my biggest strengths, and I feel as if I have a great deal to contribute to both ESL students and language schools.
After returning from Italy I began a stint with EF International teaching ESL to students from around the world. My focus was instructing students ranging in levels from elementary to advanced placement, ages 16-45. I was also teaching advanced business as well as speech and debate, tutoring students taking entry exams for Universities in the United States.
In addition to language schools I tutor adults in areas of customer service English for employees working in restaurants and resorts. I have worked in the restaurant industry for many years so combining the two elements was a natural step in blending my own experience with that of English language education.
I am very passionate in regards to teaching and tutoring ESL in any capacity. My love of travel, people, cultures from around the world and the journey of education has taken me to many amazing places all the world and has inevitably strengthened my love of learning and pushed me in my exploration of the unknown through teaching.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
